American Pit Bull Terriers or Pit Bulls as they are often referred to are filling up shelters and rescues in staggering numbers.
Here are three quick ways to help homeless Pit Bulls and help these organizations fight the problem of overpopulation.
1. Donate Your Time, Money, Expertise
You can go down to the local shelter and take the dogs for a walk.
You could also donate some money to help rescue dogs get the food and care they need.
Finally you could donate your expertise.
If you know any thing about dogs, dog training or behavior you could help asses new dogs.
2. Become a Foster Mom/Dad for a Homeless Pit Bull
Becoming a foster parent to a homeless Pit Bull will relieve some of the pressure shelters and rescues face.
You can also help by training your foster dog. This will increase the dogs chances for adoption ten fold.
3. Adopt Instead of Buy
Adopting a rescue or shelter dog gives a dog that doesn't have a chance at a normal life a real chance at being a happy and loyal family companion.
These three tips are a starting point for those who would like to do something about the Pit Bull problem of overpopulation.
